Applications to rent a garden plot at the Homestead Community Garden are now open! Apply at the link below. No payment is due at the time of application. The Volunteer & Horticulture Specialist will contact applicants with next steps. Applications are accepted on a first- come, first- serve basis.

What is a Community Garden?
A community garden is a shared piece of land where people come together to garden. Individuals, families, or service groups manage their own plots, while also participating in the collective care of the garden’s common areas. A community garden is an ecosystem of shared rules, resources and expectations.
Here’s what you need to know if you are considering renting a plot:
What is Provided
- A dedicated space for growing vegetables, small fruits, herbs and flowers
- Season-long growing rights
- Planting must be initiated by May 31
- All plant material, supports, labels must be removed by November 15
- Access to shared resources
- Water, drip or micro-spray irrigation, hoses, soil, compost bin, basic tools, wheelbarrows.
- Support from the garden community
- Mentoring and education, shared workdays, seasonal workshops
- The freshest produce, herbs, flowers grown by you!
What is Required
- Annual plot fee: $1.50/SF
- Supplies: plot holder is responsible for seeds, plants, and supports.
- Regular plot Maintenance
Homestead Community Garden is located on Town of Windsor property within a neighborhood; gardeners must uphold a high level of maintenance in the gardens. Plots must be tended regularly, be well-weeded, and policies must be followed to keep your plot.
