What were you doing before coming to the Town of Windsor Museums?

I spent the last year at the Cache la Poudre River National Heritage Area working as the Heritage Interpreter... BUT... I’m actually returning to the Town of Windsor Museums! I worked here from 2020 - early 2024 as a Museum Education Specialist and I am so excited to be back! Helping people of all ages discover that there is a place in history for everyone is one of my favorite things to do.

What is your role at the museum?

I am the Museum Education Coordinator, fancy words that mean I get to help folks explore our Museum spaces and Windsor’s history. I coordinate and lead field trips and classroom outreach, organize and lead museum programs and events with my incredible team of Educators, work on museum interpretation projects, and generally help ensure the museum is a welcoming place for many different types of people to visit and explore.

What museum event are you most looking forward to helping with?

Twilight Tours of Lakeview Cemetery in October are my favorite event! Who doesn’t love wandering around a cemetery after dark with a lantern telling stories of Windsorites past? I also love spending time with our littlest learners -- so our preschool program Lil’ Explorers is another favorite. I love watching kiddos learn alongside an adult that’s special to them, and how new and exciting the world is when you’re 3-5 years old.

Which Windsor History Museum building is your favorite and why?

I love the farmhouse at the Windsor History Museum. If you take a moment to slow down and look, you’ll see items that are familiar and unexpected. I think it’s a great place to ground yourself and realize that life 100 years ago really wasn’t that different. Many items you’ll see there my mother and grandmother still have--family heirlooms passed through generations of women -- so it also feels like a special place. Plus, I advocated for the purchase of the ice box and I love talking with our visiting classrooms about refrigeration in the past!

What is one thing that is on your bucket list?

I have a lofty goal of visiting all the National Parks and National Monuments! I love a good road trip, hike, and campsite... plus I’m a huge nerd so I love learning about history and nature. I’ve visited a lot, but I’d probably make more progress if I didn’t keep going back to my favorites(looking at you Grand Teton). Acadia National Park in Maine is at the top of my list.

Fun Fact!

I backpacked the Grand Canyon rim to rim with my family. It was the most breathtaking experience -- both because of the views and because of the incline. I’ll take any excuse to be outdoors and as a native Coloradoan, I’ve done most of the outdoor recreation activities you can think of! Hiking is one of my favorites, but be warned, I’ll definitely stop to sniff a Ponderosa Pine (they smell like butterscotch and are one of my favorite scents)!
