Windsor is a rapidly growing community and places a high value on parks and recreation services. Staff knew we needed a leader in the industry who could bring years of experience and knowledge from communities around the country, hence the selection of PROS Consulting, INC., to work on our Strategic Plan. 

The PROS team, led by their Vice-President and Principal Neelay Bhatt, has a proven track record that affirms their ability to guide departments of all sizes through a rigorous assessment and development of strategic actions needed to meet the needs of our growing community.

About Windsor Parks, Recreation & Culture

Windsor Parks, Recreation & Culture is a two-time National Parks & Recreation Association Gold Medal finalist agency who’s staff works tirelessly to achieve its mission to build community.

The department is driven by a vision to be the national leader in exceptional recreation experiences. This is accomplished by providing the highest quality recreation experiences while simultaneously preserving the resources, wildlife and history in the area. Our active and dynamic parks and recreation program, an abundance of modern facilities and the variety of activities available keep Windsor residents active year-round.

They serve a rapidly growing community of just over 31,000 residents who can select from a variety of recreational activities throughout our community.

Windsor Parks is responsible for the operation and maintenance of 27 parks, our urban forest, and the Lakeview Cemetery. The park system includes picturesque Windsor Lake, 40 miles of trails, open space and recreation facilities. Just a few of the amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, 6 outdoor pickleball courts, a skate park, two dog parks, a variety of playgrounds as well as sports facilities.

Windsor Open Space & Trails promotes a high quality of life in Windsor by maintaining a diversified trail system and open spaces while emphasizing best management practices that support safety and environmental stewardship. Combined, they are responsible for nearly 500 acres of developed and undeveloped lands comprised.

Windsor Recreation provides a wide variety of activities, community programs, cultural opportunities and special events designed to promote a healthy lifestyle for all ages and abilities. These include youth and adult athletics, instructional programs, drop-in activities, arts, fitness classes, aquatics group excursions and historic preservation activities of the town. They oversees the following facilities Community Recreation Center, Windsor Lake programming, Chimney Park Pool, Art & Heritage Center and the Boardwalk Park Museum.

The Windsor Community Recreation Center offers 85,000 square feet of amenities that include an indoor aquatics center featuring lap lanes, a lazy river, slide, hot tub and children’s play area. Other amenities included multiple meeting/gathering rooms, two gymnasiums, a walk/jog track, an aerobics/dance/yoga studio, fitness studio, a child care area and numerous classes.

During the summer, Boardwalk Park is the place to be for the best in culture and entertainment. The park is home to the free Summer Concert Series, which features local and regional bands playing everything from jazz and ’40s big band sounds to country and classic rock. Enjoy this entertainment every Thursday night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. throughout the summer months. On Saturday’s be sure to swing by and check out our very own Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 1p.m.
