A community meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 12 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at the corner of Goslar Drive and Harmony Ridge Parkway, for residents to view the park designs for the construction of a new park in the Harmony Ridge Neighborhood and vote for their favorite concept. Participants must be present to vote.

“Engaging our community in the design process and providing a sense of community for our residents will ensure that we build a park that reflects the needs in this neighborhood,” said Tara Fotsch, deputy director of Windsor’s Parks, Recreation & Culture Department. “We are intentionally hosting the community meeting at the empty lot to give residents a feel of the space and introduce them to the future location as they view the renderings, make their decision and vote.”

The 3.36 acres on the corner of Goslar Drive and Harmony Ridge Parkway is designated for a neighborhood park. In the early stages of building the park, the Town of Windsor reached out to the community, engaged its residents and encouraged everyone to join the conversation and give input on the features and designs of the park. The discussions focused around playground equipment, types of building material, and much more.

On June 30, residents and their children filled the Windsor Community Recreation Center to discuss the future design of the new park. At the meeting, children and adults viewed several architect design concepts, asked the Windsor staff and DTJ Design architects questions, and took advantage of the crayons, markers, and stationery paper, placed at each table to draw a playground with their preferred amenities. The drawings were collected by DTJ Design architect team, reviewed, and used as a guide to draft concepts of Harmony Ridge’s future playground.

Construction for the playground is scheduled to begin in 2022.
