The Town of Windsor is hosting a community meeting Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at the Windsor Community Recreation Center, 250 11th St, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. to discuss the design of a new park in the Harmony Ridge neighborhood. Residents and children are encouraged to attend and provide their ideas.

The 3.36 acres on the corner of Goslar Drive and Harmony Ridge Parkway is designated for a neighborhood park. As the Town of Windsor begins the first stages of building the park, the community is encouraged to join the conversation and give their input about the playground features, which includes the surface of the playground, the recreational equipment such as merry-go-rounds, swingset, slide, and much more.

“As our town evolves, our goal is to build a public space that fits the needs of our current and future residents, the neighborhoods, and the children who play here,” said Tara Fotsch, deputy director of Windsor’s Parks, Recreation & Culture Department. “By listening to our residents, we are building with them in mind. Their input has a direct impact on how we build this playground.”

The community meeting is designed to hear ideas from residents and children. The Parks, Recreation and Culture department will provide light snacks and interactive activities for children between the ages of 1 to 15 to help and encourage their thoughts and suggestions about the type of park features and amenities they favor.

“After our initial meeting, the designers will collect the community’s ideas and concepts, then create two park designs,” said Tara Fotsch. “We will then meet with the community again in late August and they decide the design for their next park!”

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2022.

The Town of Windsor currently has 27 parks, 40 miles of trails, open space, and recreation facilities.
