The Town of Windsor partners with the World Waterpark Association to host a free World’s Largest Swim Lesson™ (WLSL) event on Thursday, June 17, from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at Chimney Park Pool, 421 Chimney Park Drive, for all ages.
“Our goal is to encourage our community to join us and build awareness, teach children and adults to swim, prevent drownings, and provide fundamental life-saving techniques,” said Rachael Stefanich, recreation coordinator for the Parks, Recreation, and Culture Department. “As our residents return to our pools, it’s important for us to provide our residents with the skills that will allow them to enjoy and look forward to swimming safely.”
Swimming is a life-saving skill for children and a vital tool to prevent drowning, the second leading cause of unintended, injury-related death for U.S. children ages one through 14. The WLSL event serves as a platform to build awareness of teaching children to swim and prevent drownings. This will be the 12th year for the global event, and TEAM WLSL™ will continue with its goal of reaching more than one billion with the message Swimming Lesson Save Lives™.
